Planting Flowers and Trees by Bulgarian Sports Development Association in collaboration with the Volleyball Club ” Achilles” Sofia
Number of Participants: Approximately 30 young athletes
Aim of the Activity:The event aimed to promote the “Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB” initiative, encouraging young sports enthusiasts to engage in environmental conservation. It focused on fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the youth by involving them in practical, eco-friendly activities. The event was attended by young graduates of the volleyball club “Achilles” Sofia and their coach, Alexander Rashkov.
Activities and Highlights:
Planting Flowers and Trees: Participants enthusiastically planted flowers and trees, emphasizing the importance of active involvement in environmental conservation. This activity aimed to enhance the greening and beautification of their school, sports club, and the city of Sofia.
Provision of Plants: The plants were provided by the Bulgarian Sports Development Association as part of the project and generously donated to the sports club by Ivaylo Zdravkov, a board member of the organization.
Distribution of Sustainable Wooden Cards: Participants received sustainable wooden cards designed to introduce them to various sports disciplines. These cards also aimed to spark their curiosity about eco-friendly materials and innovative activities.
The effects of our green activity included:
- Environmental Impact: Planting flowers and trees contributed to the beautification and greening of the area, supporting local biodiversity and environmental health;
- Educational Impact: The activity highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship to the young athletes, fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness about climate protection from an early age;
