Carbon Neutral Sport Clubs (C Zero Sport Clubs)
The “Carbon Neutral Sport Clubs Network” (C ZERO SPORT CLUBS) is an Erasmus+ Sports Project co-funded by the European Union. Its goal is to encourage small sports clubs across Europe to adopt sustainable practices and take climate action. The project aims to create a network of carbon-neutral sports clubs, promoting environmental activities such as using recycled materials, eco-friendly lighting, bicycles for daily activities, and organizing planting activities.
Partners from Turkey, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, and Serbia are involved. The project’s objectives include motivating sports clubs to act against climate change, designing eco-friendly club operations, and raising local awareness about climate change through volunteers, athletes, and stakeholders.
Key steps include developing and applying a Climate Footprint Measurement Program, which evolves into a Carbon Footprint Measurement Application for broader use. The network aims to expand to include more sports clubs and NGOs, fulfilling their responsibilities in combating climate change.
